The Black of Hearts
Indie rock, punk and folk with pop hooks, playing the songs of JJ Zawa. More recordings and videos are on the way.
Raw energy. Honest storytelling. Unfiltered rock and roll.
The Black of Hearts don’t just play rock and roll. They wring it out, burn it down, and rebuild it with whatever they can get their hands on. Rooted in the driving grit of modern indie rock, the band strikes a volatile, captivating balance between the explosive aggression of punk, the grounded soul of traditional folk, and the undeniable hooks of classic pop.
Formed in dark basements and sweat-slicked clubs, The Black of Hearts took shape out of a shared obsession with songs that bite as hard as they sing. Their sound is defined by sharp, propulsive rhythm sections, roaring guitar riffs, and acoustic undertones that give every track a beating, human heart. It’s music meant for loud rooms, midnight drives, and full-throated singalongs.
Lyrically, the band trades in the raw stuff: heartbreak, defiance, late-night reckonings, and the search for something real in a noisy world. Like the best folk storytellers, their songs tell tales of quiet struggles and sudden epiphanies. They just happen to deliver them with the volume turned up to eleven and a punk rock middle finger raised to conformity.
Yet behind the rough edges and high-voltage stage presence lies an effortless sense of melody. The Black of Hearts weave anthemic, pop-infused hooks directly into their hardest-hitting tracks, creating songs that stick in your head long after the amps stop humming.
Whether acoustic and stripped-back or fully amplified and unhinged, The Black of Hearts deliver a sound that is as fierce as it is catchy: a true testament to the timeless power of guitar, grit, and a great chorus.
